Intetics travels to Florida to promote the Belarusian IT Industry
Posted on May 5th, 2015 Diana

On Tuesday, April 28th 2015, Intetics took part in Discover IT Belarus roadshow organized by Belarus Hi-Tech Park (HTP) in Miami, FL. The main goal of the event was to promote the existence of HTP abroad and to establish business relations between Belarusian and South Floridian IT companies. Members of the Belarusian delegation included HTP Director Valeriy Tsepkalo, Belarus-US diplomat Pavel Shidlovsky, and 4 other HTP corporate members.

The day consisted of two major business events. The first was the delegation’s participation in the Technology Leaders of the Year Awards 2015, organized by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. This event honored the leaders in the IT industry in Miami and provided great networking opportunities with local companies developing innovative software.

The event honored the best and the brightest technology leaders of the greater Miami area. The winners included Daniel Cane, Founder of Blackboard Inc. and current CEO and co-founder of Modernizing Medicine, Mimi Taylor, the CIO of Baptist Health South Florida, Herwig Konings of Accredify and companies Ryder System Inc and Entic. For a full summary of the awards, visit the Miami Herald news.

Technology of the Year Awards 2015 Cane, who was also the keynote speaker at the event informed the audience that Florida is actually the 3rd largest state for high-tech establishments and 3rd largest exporter of high-tech products in the US. The state is also home to over 26,000 IT companies.

The second event of the day took place at the offices of GreenbergTraurig, an international law firm. Here each corporate delegate of the HTP roadshow was given a chance to introduce their company to a Florida-based audience. The meeting concluded with a fruitful discussion about how best to promote HTP Belarus and their corporate members in the US.

Intetics Belarusian entity, InteticsBel, has been a resident of HTP Belarus for 5 years. HTP’s main goal is to develop a comprehensive software development cluster in Belarus, creating beneficial economic conditions for doing business in Belarus. For example, doing business with HTP residents leads to a great number of exemptions from taxes and dues. The conditions created by HTP are some of the most generous for IT companies in Europe. In addition to business meetings, some members of the delegation met with mayors of cities surrounding Miami, such as the Mayor of North Miami Beach. After the events on Tuesday ended, the rest of the delegation traveled on to Washington D.C. to conclude the roadshow.

Intetics at CeBIT 2015: Highlights and summary
Posted on April 16th, 2015 Diana

Exhibitions space of the world's largest tech conference, CeBIT 2015In March 2015 Intetics participated in CeBIT 2015 in Hanover, Germany. This conference is one of the largest conferences of the international IT market. The five-day long conference showcased products from leading tech companies, achievements of various development teams and the latest technological innovations. The importance of the event is further highlighted by the fact that each year it is opened by Germany’s Chancellor herself.

The focus of this year’s conference was digitization of the economy. The conference presented many new technologies that will soon dominate the world. For example, Vodafone showed off its new 5G network. This is a very timely revelation, especially as new devices come online with the growth of Internet of Things and network speed and response will be tested like never before. The conference also featured speakers painting the possibilities of an inter-connected world. According to them, the whole world is to come online soon: from cars, to cities, to brainwaves.

While many speakers described the exciting advances of the industry, others also cautioned the audience about the implications of technology advance. For example, Edward Snowden cautioned via a teleconference that security is more important now than ever. He spoke about the possible harms to infrastructure and user privacy if security is not improved — something that Intetics President, Boris Kontsevoi, also wrote about.

Intetics is a top 100 global outsourcing company for 9 consecutive years
Posted on February 18th, 2015 Diana

Intetics in the Global Outsourcing 100 2015 Phoenix, Arizona, February 18th 2015 – For the ninth consecutive year, Intetics was named to The 2015 Global Outsourcing 100 list compiled by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP). The list promotes the companies that demonstrated professional excellence and constantly added customer value in their outsourcing initiatives.

The full list of inductees was announced on Monday this week on the first day of the 2015 Outsourcing World Summit in Phoenix, Arizona. Companies operating in IT outsourcing, business process outsourcing (BPO), software development and other outsourcing services were all considered for inclusion to the list. Once the online application was received, IAOP evaluated each applicant using a rigorous methodology that included an independent review by a panel of experienced outsourcing service users. IAOP membership is not a requirement for inclusion on the list.

The resulting list includes the most successful companies from the entire outsourcing industry. These are the top 100 companies that have shown excellence through growth, size, customer satisfaction and innovative programs that produce value for customers. “Being named to The Global Outsourcing 100 list is no easy task,” said Michael Corbett, IAOP Chairman. “IAOP is pleased to recognize Intetics for their excellence and achievement.” In addition to the main list, the judges also vote for companies in top 10 and top 20 sub-lists, which are special categories that depend on company specializations.

“Being named to The Global Outsourcing 100 list is no easy task,” said Michael Corbett, IAOP Chairman. “IAOP is pleased to recognize Intetics for their excellence and achievement.”

The list was published for the first time in 2005, and is celebrating its tenth year of existence this year. Intetics has been on the list for nine consecutive years, demonstrating its commitment to excellent delivery and customer satisfaction, despite the changing landscape and demands of the outsourcing industry. Intetics continues to adapt its services to their Clients’ needs with innovative business models such as Offshore Dedicated Teams and Remote In-Sourcing.

The Global Outsourcing 100 list serves as an essential guide for companies who are searching for a partner in the IT outsourcing and software development world. Intetics celebrates its 20th birthday with pets, coffee, and Ping Kong [Infographic]
Posted on January 29th, 2015 Diana

On January 27th 2015, Intetics Co. celebrated its twentieth birthday and it’s place as one of the world’s best software development companies. To commemorate this milestone achievement, the Intetics team decided to critically evaluate its culture with a rigorous survey of its employees and their habits. The results of the 450 person study were astounding.

Infographic at the bottom of page.

The investigation concluded that the Intetics team is a very passionate, intelligent and athletic group of people. For example, there are 680 monthly ping pong matches that occur at Intetics offices. Occasionally, Ping Kong plays too.

But ping pong isn’t the only popular sport, as pool and kicker (also known as foosball, table soccer, table football or baby-foot – wiki) tables get quite a bit of action throughout the year, with 85,384 kicker goals and 3,912 hours spent playing pool.

Office space

Although not among the top three office sports, hockey also received a notable mention in the survey results (and not strictly because Belarus just held an international hockey championship for which we created an app).

The mention of hockey came in the form of measuring the NHL ice rink, which happens to be almost the same size, in square meters, as the Intetics Bel office in Minsk. The combined size of the Intetics development centers in Ukraine are actually twice that size.

Liquid consumption

The study also found that the Intetics team drinks 61,740 liters of coffee and tea per year. And yes, this volume of liquids is equivalent to the amount of fuel needed by an Airbus A320 on its return flight from Minsk to Chicago (so travel to Minsk with no fear!). The third most popular liquid consumed is milk.

Animal ownership

Another shocking result of the survey was the conclusion that the overwhelming majority of Intetics employees are cat people. Other animals, of course, do exist as pets, but cat ownership exceeds that of any other animal by almost 50%.

Areas of expertise

The majority of the team develops software or conducts GIS and QA-related activities every day, with Java, .NET, and PHP being some of the most popular technologies among our professionals.

In all, the examination of Intetics culture concluded that we are a very diverse group of highly educated and young people, speaking 18 languages and working with clients from over 30 countries on all inhabited continents.

Intetics, a Software Development Company with roots in Eastern Europe, turns 20
Posted on January 27th, 2015 Diana

Intetics software development offices and global locations In January 1995, five software engineers got together in Minsk, Belarus and started writing software. They had one black and white laptop computer (yes, with a track-ball), and they wrote programs for their insurance clients in USA under the name Client-Server Programs.

There was still no Internet in the post-Soviet Republic, and the engineers had to dial a host in Germany in order to access the web (which perhaps sounds just as crazy then as it does now, though for different reasons).

Now, twenty years later, the group of five has grown to a global company of over 450, and the old black and white laptop has been substituted for bigger (or smaller) and brighter machines.

Intetics now spans 8 offices across the globe: from Chicago, to Dusseldorf, to Minsk, Kyiv and Kharkiv, to Tokyo.

Brief History

Software development on a 1995 machineIntetics has had its headquarters in three different locations (first Minsk, then Prague, then Chicago). It has developed software for over 300 clients in more than 30 countries. It won over 40 awards, some of which have been consecutive recognitions as world’s best outsourcing provider, largest software company, best global services firm, fastest growing private business in the US, and even the best place to work. One of the original five engineers, Boris Kontsevoi, the president and founder, remains a core part of the management team today.

Through the years, the company went through many transitions, especially in the services it provided as technologies and clients’ needs changed.

For the first four years the company primarily created desktop applications based on their clients specifications. With the universal growth of the Internet, the company began to build web applications and design web pages.

As the customer base grew, it became apparent that it was imperative to offer a more personalized approach. This was the beginning of transformation for Intetics, and even for the outsourcing industry as a whole.

Based on the idea of more personal service that focuses on client’s goals, Intetics developed two successful business models: Offshore Development Team and Remote In-Sourcing. Today, the company creates and operates distributed technology teams for software product development, data processing, systems integration and quality assurance that can tackle virtually any software challenge.

Visit our History page for the complete story of how our company got to where it is today.

Excellence in Software Development

It’s a great honor to celebrate the 20th anniversary for any company, but especially for a company that does business in a fast-paced industry such as Information Technology. Intetics on NASDAQ Market Tower for 20 years of quality software development. The average life expectancy of a company of any size is about 12.5 years (according to Stratix Group study) and even shorter in the technology sector. Intetics has beaten the average by almost 8 years due to its ability to deliver dependable software development services and flexibility to adapt to the software and technology changes that clients demand.

Intetics is proud to celebrate its 20th birthday, and would like to say a big Thank You! to everyone who made the last twenty years possible. The black and white laptop used to write first code may be lost, but the spirit and desire to make great software and provide exceptional service is present at Intetics more than ever.

Here is to many more years to come!

Intetics lights up Times Square
Posted on December 9th, 2014 Diana

On a gloomy Friday morning, Intetics’ bright colors lit up Times Square. The orange banner celebrates the top software product development company’s growth over the past 20 years from a small 5 person team to a company with over 450 employees.

Intetics on NASDAQ Market Tower for 20 years of quality software development.

On Friday, December 5th 2014, Intetics’ message was displayed with 19 million LED lights on the 44 foot high and 14 feet wide screen of the NASDAQ MarketSite Tower, which is the physical presence of the NASDAQ stock market.

New York City passersby saw the Intetics banner towering seven stories high over Times Square with an exuberant slogan “Where Software Concepts Come Alive” and a computer-like silhouette of a brain. At the bottom, the purpose of the entire event becomes clear – it reads “Intetics – 20 years of quality software development”.

In January 2015 the company will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The announcement is meant to visualize how far the company has come from its Belarusian roots since its founding in 1995 to becoming one of the fastest growing, award-winning software product development companies.

The broadcast comes after a spectacular year for the company: it has been listed as one of the top 100 outsourcing services companies by IAOP for the eighth year, one of the 500 largest software companies for the past five years, and has been included in the Inc 5000 list seven years in a row – an honor that only about 500 other companies in the US have achieved. Its proprietary business model Remote In-Sourcing has also been recognized as one of the top 100 business innovations in the Chicago area.

It’s a great achievement for any company to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Commercial institutions are a relatively new phenomenon in world history (only 500 years in the Western world) and their average lifespan is surprisingly short. The most turbulent years in a company’s life is its first 10 years, this is the time period with high corporate mortality rate. In fact, as Businessweek writes, in a study by the Stratix Group, the average life expectancy of companies of all sizes is only about 12.5 years.

Celebrating 20 years in business, especially for a company in a fast-paced industry such as information technology and software development, signifies not only high dependability and trustworthiness, but also ability to adapt to the times and to the needs of its clients.

Congratulations to Intetics and all the people who have helped it to get to where it is today – may the next 20 years be even brighter!

Ukraine’s IT industry by the numbers
Posted on October 28th, 2014 Diana

How many IT specialists does Ukraine have and how much do they make? Which developers are in most demand? The founder of a Ukrainian job search site, Maxim Ischenko reported his findings on the state of the IT industry and what to expect in the next year at this year’s IDCEE conference, an annual conference on Internet technologies and innovations in Central and Eastern Europe.

Where do Ukrainian developers work?

According to Ischenko’s findings, there are now 75,000 developers in Ukraine. From them, 15,000 work in large companies. 45% of developers live in Kiev, 18% live in Kharkov and 9.3% live in Lviv. The next largest IT-oriented cities are Dnepropetrovsk and Odessa.

Ukraine software developers and companies that employ them The majority of Ukrainian IT specialists work in the outsourcing industry. The second most common employer is product companies. Start-ups employ about 4.5% of the country’s developers. The graph on the right shows the break-down of employers by type, where ODC stands for Offshore Dedicated Center, where companies set-up their own dedicated development office and hire local talent for cost efficiency.

Who is the average developer?

The average age of Ukrainian developers is 27 years old. This is a 2 year increase from 2011. The average length of time working in the IT industry is 1-3 years. The majority of the specialists have a higher education degree and understand English.

The IT job market in Ukraine

Demand for Ukrainian IT developers based on skills The demand is highest for specialists working with enterprise, web and mobile development. Employers have a preference for experienced developers. The graph on the left shows the number of IT specialists hired based on their expertise. Despite the crisis, the number of job vacancies remained the same. Yet, the number of applicants has increased with an average of two specialists per job posting.

The average salary has actually decreased from $2600 to $2100. According to Ischenko, this isn’t an indicator that experienced developers are getting paid less. Rather, this indicates that there are more people willing to take up jobs with lower pay, since the average salary of highly specialized developers has remained the same.

Furthermore, the number of people that want to work in the IT industry has noticeably increased. For example, one of IT learning centers in Ukraine received 1400 applications for 80 spots, while an open position for a junior developer currently has an average of 20 applicants.

Predictions for Ukraine’s IT market in 2015

The development of IT in the next year depends on two factors – internal and external. The demand for Ukrainian IT specialists will depend on US and European market growth. If the development continues, the industry will continue to grow, with more companies opening and more job vacancies. Otherwise, the number and growth will likely decrease.

The other factor is the conflict in the East of the country. If the situation stabilizes, companies will be able to secure more contracts.
